This was a good and interesting theme I thought the designers had to choose between good and evil them from the movie Descendants. This time they had two whole days to prepare and they were so happy not the usual time crunch so they were all over joyed. They got a good budget of 300 dollars so I knew this was going to be a good episode. I liked how they split them into sides to where one group of people make good themed dresses and some make evil dress. That puts it in good perspective for the audience when watching. To see how people play out the theme of it all.

I knew this was going to be a rough time for Clair after I saw her freaking out and not having the best experience and she was getting some criticism on the dress when she was working on it. Then they were coming at Aarons and told him not to make it look to gimmicky. All of the show is reflecting on your work and how to you deal with the response of it. Its tough some people crack under pressure some people thrive and use the criticism well when they reflect on it. That is shown and the audience can tell. In my eyes when they don’t respond do criticism well that is a bad message to the audience that you cant take criticism well.

I really thought from the beginning Brandon was taking everything well and bringing it all in I saw how good he was with everything compared to everyone else. He has always been a favorite for me to watch. Then once I saw how Aaron was taking everything things were not looking up and that’s tough. But at the end of the day when you dont reflect and take things into account for yourself it wont turn out well for you.

When I look at this episode its all about how people reflect on what was told to them and they may take it in a bad way or good way. But the judges and Tim and other people there are there to help you not hurt you. That’s the way I saw Brandon won because he took criticism well and he used it to his advantage unlike some people.

This weeks challenge for the designers was to make sleepwear that was sexy for Hedi Klum something that would fit her style that was the biggest objective. I knew when I saw that was the challenge that people were not gonna have the best time. That is a kinda stressful thing to do. Illuminating someone else style is always the hardest especially when you are trying to incorporate your own.

When I watch any type of show like this now I think of a discourse community. That’s what they are they may not communicate with each other because they are all competing to win but they are all trying to do the same thing. Every episode they are trying to reach the same goal as everyone. They are all having the same goal to make a fashionable sexy sleepwear. That is a pretty hard thing to do and do it off of Hedi type style she wants.

The contestants all did it on their genre and style. Some I knew were gonna shine more than others just by how they did and styled their models in the other episodes. Some definitively struggled more than others but that what these challenges are all about getting through. You have to really not put to much of your own style on the product because its for Hedi. You can already tell people don’t like doing that on the show and they like showing more of how they make things more than conforming to what Hedi wants in the sleepwear. One person I knew who struggled a lot was Aaron’s, his look I didn’t think it was gonna do well just by the print and how it already looked worn before the model even put it on. Micheal did win it was the best out of all of them and hes doing well this season so far.

The challenges are gonna change every week and they all have to adapt in a community type way. Sometimes they will have teams to work together sometimes they will have to fined for themselves. But they will always have the same goal and that is to complete the challenges the judges give them and win.

This week we were assigned  “The Concept Of Discourse Community” this was a very good reading. I enjoyed it a lot and it helped me learn about the concept of discourse community as it says in the name. This has also given be the ablity to come of with my own definition of it.

So what the main thing is of a A discourse community it is a group of people who communicate with each other and they want the same type of goal at the end. They have the same type of mindset when in comes to getting stuff done. As he said “The participatory mechanisms will vary according to the community meeting, telecommunications, correspondence, newsletter conversations and so forth.”(swales 221)

So I feel like when he is saying all of that its vary clear that they will all get their point across one way or another. They all have the same goal of getting things done and working together on it. That is how they reach their goals and communication to them is everything because without that they will not be able to accomplish what they are trying to do.

For a good example in my life one of the biggest discourse community I had was my high school cross country and track team. The main thing was getting everyone together and getting our miles in so we get be the best. That is what we would communicate put in the work and then the goals will achieve themselves.

In this world there is discourse community’s everywhere they are sports teams they are people that are working at the same company they are people that rally together and fight for a cause. The main thing is that you just surround yourself with the right community that’s all that really matters .

Honestly for this episode I knew it was going to be a mess because they were going to base their dresses off of a children’s movie. They get 30 minutes to do this sketch and honestly props to them when they are doing this. I don’t know how anyone can really pull off making something good in thirty minutes. But I could tell that some people were not thrilled about this.

In my head I don’t the think the situation they were given was that best. Its hard to make something that someone really really wants to wear off a children’s book.

I could tell that Kudzanai was not having it during the show but honestly I did not think out of all of the dresses he was going very into it and using his roots to make it look as good as he thought it could be. When they said that it seemed like he tried to hard for the children’s theme that’s what kinda made me mad. You are on the show to make the best of what you think the theme is and you are going to go at him for it.

Out of all of them ChaCha dress I think didn’t match the theme it was just a dress. Kudzanai was matching the theme and it set with the audience and it was for the market. Chachas dress was more for just a look of pop type than a children’s book theme in my opinion. So from a judges stand point I see from a point why they took Kudzanai off but I felt like at least he went with the theme.

That was one thing with the show its going to show everyone’s strengths and weaknesses a lot of the time. I just look at it like you just got to work with what you have and make the most of it. You have to speak to the audience and views but also you have to impress the judges because those are the ones you are making the dress for and they know the market more than you do because they already made it in the industry.

I am waiting to see one episode where everyone’s just loses it and people break down. Seeing people up against the wall and don’t know what to do. That’s when you see who really has it when everything is on the line. Its the same with anything you do with the industry. With writing or TV or movies that you are trying to make you have to impress the people above you because they are the ones you have to get to fund your stuff and some people produce there best content when there back against the wall. That’s what I’m waiting for when everyone’s back is against the wall.

After reading the Lloyd F. Bitzer’s “The Rhetorical Situation” I saw that there is more to how people want you to see things. Im not the biggest fan of alazing articals or reading and when I saw that this was going to be for people that are above my level in education I was not the upmost thrilled.

I could tell by when I was first reading it that the audience of this was towards people that were at a higher level of education than me. I am not the best when it comes to picking apart readings. I am more of a person that if someone is talking to me I can read them. Better than I can read a piece of reading.

As I could see writer creates something that they want to be looked at very closely and taken apart to understand by an audience that is how am understanding it now. Rhetorical situation there prompt is going to be them communicating a message that is trying to persuade you and change your perspective in a sense.

When I think of Genre after reading this I think of just how there are just so many different types. Each Genre hits different audiences and there are a lot of things that go into peoples writing when they are trying to show people there genre and who they are writing to and writing for.

Rhetorical Situation, genre and audience they all go together you are trying to get someone to see your side. Then they will know that is there type of reading and they will enjoy what you are writing then there you go that is your audience. They all have there different important things but they all go together.

My writing is very simple and very easy to understand in from my stand point I am very honest person to. Earlier this week Kobe Bryant died and there have been so many moving stories that people have been putting out. When I read peoples stories you feel a lot of emotions because if your just a fan of any sport he has touched someone. He was a lot of peoples inspiration and a lot of people strive to have his work effort everyone wanted to be like the mamba. Even if you did not know him personally he touched you. That is what I gathered from articles I read like on CNN,ABC,ESPN every new platform. The audience he touched wasn’t just the sports community it was the foundations he had and just all of the world.

That was one thing I wanted to put in my post about audiences someone that big that impacted so many lives had so many things written about him on every type of platform it was amazing to see. The audiences he touched was insane to see.

For a lot of the time that I have been in English, I never thought id have to think about how the audience really feels while reading the book or page or any type of writing. When I’m approaching this project I will be paying very close attention to every aspect of the readings and put everything together. See how they try and reach out to there audiences and show the rhetorical situations.

Fashion design and writing have a lot of similarities don’t they? Not a lot of people think that way when they think of the two. But after watching Project Runway and reading more into stories that are given throughout the class there is a lot more to meet the eye in both. When you look at a title of a book you think you are going to know what that book is about and what is gonna be in it. That is the same when you look at someones clothes you base that person off of what they are wearing and where they come from.

When I was watching I noticed how everyone is really stressing to impress the judges which makes sense this is there shot for a life long changing experience. Its very hard to to make something with a lot of quality and attention grabbing with the time they are given. They have to not just grab the audiences attention they also have to wow the judges. That how writing is at the beginning you have to grade your reader and the audiences attention when you are writing. People that read your books are like the judges on the show they try and see the quality,creativity and authenticity you bring to the table. Basically every book you write or page or post you do of writing is like you are competing like the contestants are on project runway.

When the designers are creating they have to find need of the women they are making the dress for. That is something I enjoyed seeing was them work with how there models body was. That is how I see genre the writer has to work with in the genre they are in to make it comfortable for the reading to enjoy. Just how the contestants had to work with how the models body’s were for the models to like what they were wearing and feel conformable in it. Then it will appeal more to the audience. When you can tell the model is confident in what they are wearing it appeals more to the judges to and when a writer is confident in what they are writing it can appeal more to their audience to.

On Project runway you can tell what contestant has a lot of knowledge and skill in what they are doing. That reflects on their work on when they are designing on the show for their model. That is the same for a writer or any type of work you can tell when you are reading in a certain area that they are trying set them self in a spesific genre or area for there work. That is what the contestants do very well when they are making there dresses for the models. Writing and design are very much alike they both reflect on your experience and knowledge of what you are doing.

There are alot of different ways that people write in the world of social media. Say when they are on linkedin they are going to write in a very formal way to show that they are professional. But say on instagram for twitter people don’t care they just wanna talk how they are. So they can be very informal on social media. The people that respond to you mostly are the ones that follow you and mostly are going to be like you or your friend or social media “friend”.

The way that I am with my writing on my social media is very simple with my capaitions on my instagram posts. They are nothing crazy. Sometimes it’s an inside joke or maybe it’s situational with what went on that day or at the place that the picture was taken.  My social media is nothing crazy but it me ill express what music I like and everything but it’s not like everyones elses taste. A Lot of people care about what they say in their captions and posts but with how I show who I am I’m very laid back and just go with it.

A Lot of the people on project runway express who they are and how they identify with their fashion. In the first episode there was Margarita Alvarez she would make her fashion on where she came from and her culture. That is her identity and how she expresses herself and that’s a lot with writing. People will show what they want and how they are through how they write and what they wear. 

Writing is in everything personally it has personality like you do. By what you are wearing and can show what type of person you are like if you are wearing sweatpants and a t-shirts all the time shows you are laid back. That can be the same on social media with your captions on how maybe you don’t put a lot of effort into them like some people. Your identity is going to be how you talk and show who you are by what you do and what you express like they do in project runway with their fashion and how people do on social media.

Writing can be a lot of things it can be things that make people cry, by making them feel what they are feeling. It can be something that makes people laugh by showing there humor. It can also make people very mad or confused because you don’t understand what they are saying or do not agree with it. Writing is what you want it to be in your eyes and the writers. There are just a lot of different type of different interpretations that people can take from whatever you say in what you are writing.

Only the person that is writing knows what they mean or what they are trying to say. That’s how I see it because they are going to write what they want by how they want you to see it. Then sometimes they just want the reader to understand what they want them to. But it always depends on what you are reading and how you are reading it. The writer has control over every type of aspect on how you portray every situation.

My favorite type of writing to read is the ones where people are trying to voice their opinion and argue with one another especially when you can see it in the news. People will not blatantly call another party out a lot of times but put it in a subtle way to where they are calling them wrong. That is the best to read is when people are fighting with each other but with words and you are the one just sitting back and watching it happen.The contracts between news stations like CNN and Fox are very fun to read what they both have to say about the same thing. They like to report on the same thing but they interpret situations in different ways.
